Dr Paul Davis
Dr Davis is a founding member of the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute Board and has been a member since 1998, when it was known as the Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Research Foundation.
Paul’s involvement began when he became Dr Swee Tan’s PhD supervisor. He supported the proposition that basic laboratory work held the answer to vascular anomalies, which has led Gillies McIndoe to apply similar approaches to its work in cancers. Paul is optimistic there will be significant achievements in what continues to be learned from the laboratory work.
Paul has continuously been involved in biomedical research since he graduated from the University of Otago in 1969. He has a PhD from Massey University and received a Fulbright Scholarship to do post-doctoral research at the University of Texas.
He has received many honours and awards throughout his lengthy career and holds a number of professional memberships. He has acted as Chief Scientist for the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute. He is currently Chief Executive and Director of Trinity Bioactives, which conducts independent scientific investigations to establish health benefits from natural products. He retired from his position as an honorary senior research fellow at the University of Otago in 2015.
