What is a Corporate Champion?

A Corporate Champion is a company exercising its corporate social responsibility by supporting us. Being a Corporate Champion may involve their representative working on behalf of the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute using their influence and connections within the company and externally with clients to support us and our research activities.

As a Corporate Champion, some of the roles may include:

  • Advocating for the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute: As a Corporate Champion, you could promote our cause and raise awareness about our research within your company. This might involve inviting our researchers to give presentations or visiting us for a laboratory tour and research presentation.

  • Encouraging donations: A key part of being our Corporate Champion is encouraging your colleagues and clients to donate to the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute. This might involve setting up corporate giving opportunities, organising fundraising events, or simply encouraging people to donate to us through their own channels.

  • Supporting events: As our Corporate Champion, you may attend and support our or your events by organising a team to participate in a walk or run or participate in a Gillies McIndoe Research Institute event.

Overall, being a Corporate Champion for the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute requires a corporate commitment to our cause. It should be a rewarding role, as it allows the company to make an ongoing impact on the success of the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute while also contributing to the culture of giving within its organisation and within its client base.

While Bloomsbury's central focus is to help its clients plan for the future and safeguard their wealth, it also knows that wealth is about a lot more than money. With a special interest in the area of philanthropic giving, Bloomsbury encourages its clients to contribute to the causes they care about. It enjoys the process of discovering a client’s passion for change in a specific area, and finding the best ways for them to give.

Bloomsbury Associates cares about Gillies McIndoe Research Institute and thinks our transformational endeavour is worth supporting. It recognises that our work, focused on finding a better, less invasive and more affordable way to treat life-threatening and disfiguring conditions, is admirable. It asks its clients to help us in our efforts by making regular donations to us, and we are incredibly grateful.

ThinkBird has been created to support the adaptation of governance and leadership repertoires in leading New Zealand companies. It works in the context of unprecedented global turbulence, recognising extraordinary levels of challenge and opportunity. Starting with the Gillies McIndoe way; it takes elements of pioneering culture, scientific method, creativity and military planning doctrine, and fuses them in its flagship programme for Empirically Derived Lateral Thinking – EDLTtm.

The principals behind ThinkBird , Shaun Clarke and Paula ter Brake, have strong philanthropic values and have generously decided to give the proceeds from the EDLT™ programme to Gillies McIndoe for two years. Shaun and Paula are experienced as high-achieving strategists in high-risk, high-pressure, multi-variable industries. They have each been impacted by cancer, and share a passion for the support of cancer research at Gillies McIndoe.
