Margie Beattie

Margie joined the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute as its Philanthropy Advisor in 2020, having trained and worked as a litigation lawyer both in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom.

She is passionate about her involvement with Gillies McIndoe, and her interest dates back to when her father, Sir David Beattie, was the inaugural Chair of the Board. Her family has also been impacted by cancer, and so she fully supports the scientific research work we do and our goal to innovate cancer treatment.

Margie feels incredibly purposeful in her advocacy role and building networks and relationships for the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute.

An experienced fundraiser, she works for causes close to her heart. She also has a passion for the arts and so, when not advocating on the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute’s behalf, Margie is involved in the arts sector with Tāwhiri, the creative force behind Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of the Arts.
