Erin Paterson, BSc

Erin has a broad range of laboratory experience and looks forward to contributing to our expanding research programmes. Erin joined the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute in 2017 as a laboratory technician and is now the Laboratory Manager.

She has a research background involving clinical studies and trials, novel biomarker assays, and 2D and 3D cell culture. She has a key role to play in laying the groundwork for our PhD and Postdoctoral research projects.

Erin’s focuses are the smooth running of our laboratory and providing support and training for the laboratory-based staff and students in their work. She also co-supervises PhD students.

Erin graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, double majoring in Anatomy and Microbiology, from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. She undertook several roles in the diagnostic sector after graduation and then spent eight years as a senior translational research technician at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, University of Oxford, UK, before returning to New Zealand in 2017.

Outside of her work, Erin enjoys reading, red wine and gardening.
