Peter Ryan
Peter joined the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute’s Board in 2023.
He had been working alongside the Board in a pro bono capacity since 2019, assisting with strategic advice and Government engagement. During 2022, Peter facilitated and led a strategic review of Gillies McIndoe, and he is assisting with its implementation.
As a financial and economic adviser at the Treasury, Peter provided the New Zealand Government with advice on corporatisation and privatisation, providing him with extensive strategic and financial perspectives on government and public policy. Subsequently, as an investment banker, he provided corporate finance advice to companies and Government. In the Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment (MBIE) and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), Peter advised officials and Ministers and implemented complex economic development, investment attraction and innovation policy projects, requiring the capability to integrate public policy and commercial or business perspectives.
Peter holds a BSc (Hons) and BA (Hons) in Chemistry and Economics, respectively, from Massey University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
