Mark Hargreaves

Mark joined the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute Board in 2019.

He was approached to join the board to provide legal support, particularly given his experience with intellectual property commercialisation. The timing was good as Mark was looking to do more community and pro bono work; it was a good fit as, like many families, his has also been significantly affected by cancer.

Mark has more than 27 years of experience as a commercial and intellectual property lawyer. His legal and IP background helps the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute navigate various legal issues and leverage its patent portfolio to further its research and bring innovations in cancer treatment to patients.

He is a qualified lawyer (BA/LLB Hons) and a registered patent attorney. He has experience helping companies and research organisations develop strategies for protecting and commercialising their intellectual property and putting commercial agreements into place to support their partnerships.

After leaving legal practice in April 2022, Mark now supports various start-ups and is COO at Power Trip.
