Andrew Blair joins the Gillies McIndoe Research Institute Board

Andrew Blair

The chair of the GMRI, Paul Baines, says he’s very pleased that Andrew Blair, the chair of Capital & Coast District Health Board and Hutt Valley District Health Board, has accepted an invitation to join the GMRI’s Board. He replaces Dr Virginia Hope, the former CCDHB and HVDHB chair, whose contribution as a GMRI Board member is gratefully acknowledged.

Andrew has extensive health sector and governance experience. His former roles include chief executive of Acurity Health Group (formerly Wakefield Health), general manager of Royston Hospital, chair of Cancer Control New Zealand, president of the New Zealand Private Hospitals Association and Hawke’s Bay DHB board member. In addition to his CCDHB and HVDHB roles, Andrew is the chair of Southern Partnership Group, which is overseeing the redevelopment of Dunedin Hospital.

Andrew says he is delighted to have been invited to join the Board of the GMRI and have the opportunity to support the efforts of the Institute’s world class research team and their internationally recognised efforts to revolutionise the understanding and treatment of cancer and other diseases.
