Dr McDowell is a Consultant Fertility Specialist and Gynaecologist at Fertility Associates. He is also a consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Wellington Women’s Hospital. He primarily focuses on gynaecology at his Wakefield Clinic and manages patients with fertility issues through his rooms at Fertility Associates.
Dr McDowell graduated from the University of Otago and undertook specialist obstetrics and gynaecology training in New Zealand. He then underwent post-fellowship training in Australia including fellowships in advanced laparoscopic surgery and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Simon’s operative gynaecology focuses on the minimally invasive management of severe endometriosis, hysterectomy, fibroids and ovarian cysts.
Dr McDowell is dedicated to teaching both medical students and registrars. He is actively involved in clinical research and has published 11 peer-reviewed articles in medical journals and given 25 conference presentations.
