Dr Bridget Chang-McDonald MBChB, FRCPA, Research Fellow
Dr Chang-McDonald studied medicine at the University of Otago, graduating with the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 1991. She then specialised in Anatomical Pathology, training at Hutt Hospital, Lower Hutt, and Waikato Hospital, Hamilton.
Dr Chang-McDonald became a Fellow of The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1999. She then worked as a consultant Anatomical Pathologist at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, Diagnostic Laboratory Auckland, Singapore General Hospital in Singapore, and then Hutt Hospital in Lower Hutt. During that time she taught pathology, dermatology and surgical registrars.
Her areas of experience included breast pathology, skin pathology, gastrointestinal pathology and head and neck pathology. In 2007 she became the Lead Pathologist for the Wellington region breast screening unit, BreastScreen Central, before taking a break from practising pathology to start a family.
Dr Chang-McDonald joined the GMRI in September 2019 and is looking forward to working with the team.
